This method is still one of the easiest ways to check your account balance. Reason being that, all you will need is your mobile phone and the mobile number which is linked to your Access Bank Account.
Just like the name implies, the USSD method will only be carried out by initiating a USSD session. How does that work? Just dial a short code on your phone. Continue reading to know what this code is and how to go about it. Follow the procedure below;
- Using the phone number registered with your Access Bank Account, dial the short code *901#.
- Enter option 1, which is “Check Account Balance”
- If you have more than one account with the bank, select which of the accounts balance you want to check.
- A message will be sent to you via SMS containing your account balance. Kindly note that a fee of N10 will be charged from your bank account.
Have it at the back of your mind that you have to register for the *901# banking before you will be able to Check your account balance via this channel. Enrol for the *901# quick banking is very easy. Only a few steps will be taken.
Firstly, dial *901# on the phone number registered with your Access Bank Account. Then select option 4 which is “Other Services”. It will take you to another page on the screen. Enter option 5; Reset PIN. You will be required to input the PIN you want to be using. It must be a 4 digit PIN. Then follow the on-screen prompts.
If you have already created this PIN before, you don’t have to go through this process again.
2. Mobile App Method.
This is still the easiest, fastest and costless way to check your account balance as long as you have a stable internet connection. It is costless because, unlike the USSD method,no fee will be charged from your account. That is, it is free!
To use this channel, you will visit the Google play store or iOS app store tto download the Access Bank Mobile App. Thereafter, you will login to your account making use of your registered email and phone number. You will also be required to create a password.
After successfully creating a mobile account, log in to your account with the User ID/Username. If you already have the app, then you do not need to do this anymore, just follow the process below to check your account balance.
- Open the Access mobile App on your phone.
- Sign in to your account with your User ID and password or with your biometrics(fingerprint).
- Your account balance will be on your dashboard.
3. ATM/POS Method.
The aforementioned methods should be easier thank this new moths I will introduce. This is because for this method, you have to step out of your home and you do not even need your phone.
If you are using the ATM method, you will find the closest ATM outlet to you and go there with your Access bank debit card. Then, insert the card and enter your PIN. Follow the on-screen prompts to check account balance.
On the other hand, if you prefer the POS method, just go to a POS centre, and and tell the attendant that you want to check your account balance. He/she will ask for your ATM card and will offer you the service. Kindly note that the charges will be determined by the POS centre.

I tried to check my account balance with the USSD method, but I received a message “Unable to fetch account Details”, what should I do?
When you receive this message, two things could be the problem. One of them is when you Don’t have a strong network signal or the bank’s network is poor at the moment. Just wait for a while before you try checking again.
On the other hand, having an insufficient balance could also cause this. You should know by now that checking your account balance via USSD costs N10, so if you have less than N10 in your account, you will surely get this error message.
